Gas tank check valve out of 1976 sea ray SRV 200 sport

I have been chsing this fuel problem, and I think I may have isolated it. Here are photos of the check valve. When I pulled this out of the tank and then disassembled the check valve, a piece of crap fell out. What is supposed to be between the check valve and the the elbow that screws into the tank?

Looks like an old anti=siphon valve. I'd get a new one. They now have them built in to the barb fitting. Then that's all you need. Looks like 1/4" NPT with 5/16" barb, but can not tell from pictures for sure.

oK, so I went and purchased the anti-siphon valve. What do I need to do to prime the fuel system? Anything????

Ayuh,... Splash abit of gas in the carb, 'n Light 'er off....

If it don't take the 1st time, try it a 2nd...
