1975 johnson 25hp lower end problen

i bought this motor 2 weeks ago, everything has been great tilll today. going across the lake and motor came out of water like i hit a log, nothing in water and now wont go in reverse or forward and when supposedly in neutral the prop is hard to turn any clues anybody?

Disconnect the shift linkage and see if you can shift the shifter through forward and reverse, if so, pull the lower unit and check it out.

i am fairly good at working on engines, any place you can point me to that will help me in pulling lower unit apart and what to look for i know nothing about lower unit on outboards
