Leave T-Stats out?

2000 150HP outboard Merc XR6 w/ carbs

T-stats have been back-orderd for weeks.

What about running without any thermostats at all? Warm water and warm weather.

Has anyone ever tried this?

Outboard will run cold at WOT,and could actually run hot at idle and low speed due to lack of pressure.So its not recommended.
I would order Tstats elsewhere.

gee, Those thermostats should be avail at lots of places beside Merc dealers. What part of the world are you in?

You have another issue. If you pull your stats, especially looking at the one on the starboard side....I remember that one, water will come up to the level of the stat and start bleeding out. The block has not finished filling at this time and the top of cylinder #4 I guess, is partially out of the water. I would not like to run my engine under those circumstances.
