1975 Mercruiser 233 pulling gas from a newly restored steel tank; nice and clean inside now. On tank disassembly the gas pickup tube didn't have a bag filter on the lower end. I've had this boat since new and this is the first tank service so I guess the factory didn't put one in. How important is that filter anyway? Are they commercially available? The boat's ready to go back into service and I would like to do things right.Tnx.

Ayuh,.... Never seen 1 on a boat tank pickup...

That's what canister style W/S/Filters are for...

It is called a sock. It's found on auto fuel tank sending units where the fuel pump mounts inside on bottom of sending unit
