How long should I flush for?

I currently flush with fresh water for about 4-5 minutes.

I was told to do it till I cannot taste salt water coming out but to be honest I can't detect salt even after a minute.

Am I doing it long enough?
Can I do it too long?

Personally I would probably flush it until the thermostat opens a couple times(full operating temp), but I wouldn't be personally sampling the water. :eek:
