I've been having trouble getting my 2001 Johnson V6 to crank. Tried testing the power. No spark. Power to the starter but no power to the coils. Replaced the power pack because I was told there was a 99% chance that was it but doesn't seem to work. What now? How do I tell if there is an issue with the kill switch? Or regulator or stator?

Thanks in advance!

Re: 2001 Johnson Power Problem

Your answers are in the CDI Troubleshooting guide go to page 61 and start there. Follow the steps for no spark on any cylinder. Do not skip a step do them as they are listed and you will find your issue.

Re: 2001 Johnson Power Problem

Coils do not have steady power on them. Your motor is not a car from the 60s, with battery coil ignition. CDI will pulse the coils with hundreds of volts, causing many thousands of volts to fire the spark plug.
