Cold start problem

I have a QuickSilver 3000 series remote control box and a 115 horse Mercury 2 stoke engine. To cold start it, you release the neutral lock and push the power control lever all the way forward and it will start with a fast idle, but now when I do that and turn the key nothing happens, no sound at all. It will, however, still start in neutral, albeit with a little difficulty. Any suggestions on what could be going wrong and is this something I can fix myself?

What year is the motor? Have you checked your choke/enrichner?

Re: Cold start problem

Neutral lock is to take out of neutral only. You also need to engage throttle only button on bottom of handle.Otherwise your shifting into gear and it will never start.

You are sooooo right about that, and I am feeling sooooo incredibly stupid right now. Amazing what you forget with the boat in storage for 7 months! Works now. Thank you so much for the reminder, bhile.

Sorry Paul. New to this forum stuff. I edited the response to acknowledge your help when I saw I made a mistake, but evidently it didn't work.
