Long time boater, 1st Starcraft Resto... The more screws I remove, the more work I find.... no suprise right?, floor is completely shot, transom is decent but will have to go within a few years. I did a transom/stringers/floor on a fiberglass Crestliner a few years ago, this Starcraft will be much easlier... love the aluminum, laying glass into a transom is not much fun. Anyhow... just getting started, glad to see the following and camaraderie on the starcraft group. More to follow...

Thats the one... more work that I had hoped for, but thats the model I was looking for. I see that most of the starcrafts are selling all over the midwest. Thanks Stevens520...

Lemans, welcome to the Family, great boat and project you have there. I am only to familiar with what you have there, pour foam. The floor and transom set up you have is identical to mine. The foam goes right up to and against the lower part of the transom. Mine was solid above the floor an totaly rotten below.

Thanks Glen,

Working on getting the foam out today... totally waterlogged and saturated... sat for awhile without draining, only in the back 3 feet or so.

Replace your transom now if at all possible. It's a lot easier to do it while the boat is gutted.

Welcome to the drydock, lemans. You found a good looking Islander and it looks like a good foundation to re-build. You said more work tan you wanted but you already have the glasser experience so this is a piece of cake. While you have her apart do the transom. Then you won't kick yourself later. And have fun. :D

As you move forward & have questions, a photobucket acct let's you post pix IN you thread like this:

Makes it much easier to have the big pix & text all onscreen at once, instead of having to click back & forth opening attachments. You just copy the IMG tag for the pix you want to post & paste it into your thread. The copied text will look something like this:

Congrats, welcome to dry dock once again, and nice looking rig.

welcome to the insanity that is Starcraft but these boats are the coolist, just remember a Starcraft is a hole in the water to throw $$$ in...but the satisfaction of having a boat that people oooh and aaah over is priceless!

Wanted to get the sterndrive completely off then the engine out today... got mostly done. After all that I threw in the towel. Pile of work.
