i have an old evinrude triumph ser#C595824 mod#55973C can anyone tell me what year this motor is and what the fuel/oil mix ratio should be?
what is the rubber diaphram switch on the starboard side of the engine? when pushed it sounds like it is working the shift solenoids.
where do i get a good manual for this motor?

55973C = 1969 55hp.
It is a vacume switch for operating the shift system.
You can try E-BAY or google Ken Cook, they offer factory reprints, make sure touse your model number to get the correct manual.

what exactly does the vacuum switch do? the rubber cover is broken around the edge but the motor does shift gears while turning it over on the starter. i havent tried to start it yet because i wasn't sure of the mix. i didnt get very good spark as i was checking this engine over does this switch have something to do with that?
