My dad has a 1970 Evinrude 4hp Lightwin Model 4006. He recently purchased a new motor and was wondering if his old evinrude motor was worth anything or if he should just pitch it. Motor is in perfect working order and we have used it every couple of months for as long as i can remember. Any thoughts?

if its in perfect working order.....why would you consider " pitching" it? its not worth much money, but its good to have when the "new" motor decides it doesnt want to run. ya cant beat the simplicity of the oldies, ive towed a few of those " new" shiny , modern motors back to the ramp with my trusted 1957 johnson.

You don't say how old you are or if your dad was the original owner of the 'rude.....but if you've used it ever since you can remember....wouldn't you want to keep it for nostalgia sake? I sure wish I had the old motor that my dad used when he took me fishing.....

But; if that's not the case...then surely there is some young kid in your neighborhood who would love to have it and enjoy it.

If you insist on selling it....it should bring somewhere between $100-400 depending on where you live. Here's one for sale right now...

Those are a fantastic little outboards. They run forever and very reliable if you want to sell it it is worth around $300.00. However I would keep it and run it.
