Hello, my name is garrett. My 90 hp Mercury outboard sat for 3 years barley being ran. Now i have used it 4 times this summer, and it runs well when its driving but when i first start it i have to rev up the rpm high to get the engine started. It doesnt sound good for the engine. Then when i put the rpm back down to shift the boat into gear the engine usually dies. I greased the zurts, changed spark plugs, and put in new 93 octane fuel to mix with the gas that was left in it from last year. That gas mix is almost gone. I'm hoping after running the boat once a week this summer and continuing to use sea foam i will be able to start the boat without having to rev it up. Or maybe when boats get older they dont start well. Any advice or tips that anyone could give me on starting the boat or anything i can do to help it run would be much appreciated.
