Hi all,

I am replacing the gimbal ring of my Mercruiser alpha 1 gen 1 I/O. I got a replacement one locally and removed the old ring. It seems that the old ring has the nylon bushing with the aluminum pin, and the replacement has the grease fitting bushing. The nylon bushing is too small to fit the hole of the replacement gimbal ring and the grease fitting bushing/seal is too big to hold the aluminum pin.....

Is there a way to make this work? Can I order a custom bushing with the larger OD but the smaller ID for the aluminum pin? Can I epoxy the smaller nylon bushing into the larger hole? How can I fill that extra gap? I looked on the gimbal rings and the broken one is labeled 94992-c2 and the replacement is labeled 94992s.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... You've found 1 of the many "Gotcha's" in dealin' with this stuff,...

I'd find the parts ya Really need, 'n try to swap, or resell what you've got, 'n can't use...
