Question about the Dual Throttle control

I just purchased an older Jet boat. A 2002 Yamaha LX2000 with (2) 135HP. I took the boat out for a spin and I noticed that I had to hold both trottle levers at the same time. If I let go they would go back to the idle position. Is this normal?

Maybe the cable system is wrong. I do not know. Can someone ghelp me out here.

Thanks!

Re: Question about the Dual Throttle control

Not familiar with jet boats but on a standard controller they should stay put and right off hand I would think it should be the same. Have you looked to see if you have a friction lock to adjust to hold them in place.

How about a picture of the controlers.

Thank you for your response. I will send you a picture. I believe the new cable was installed incorrectly with no friction tension.

Thank you!
