Serial Number issue

Hi guys,
This is my first post here and I know there are a lot of these questions asked, and I have tried all the links from those of you in the know but to no avail. I simply cannot find the model number etc of my newly purchased (second hand ) motor. I didnt wish to hijak the other posters threads so here it is.

My motor is a Mercury and its S/N is 8052800 I live in Australia so I believe the numbers are different for a start. I believe the motor to be a 1979 1400 it needs a bit of work and a few parts but I cant seem to find the S/N on the net anywhere so I can even begin looking..

Any assistance greatly appreciated as I have witnessed you guys are really knowlegable with this stuff.

If it is indeed a 1979, the model number will be 1140529.
