cant find shifter rod release to drop lower unit to replace water pump.HELP?:facepalm:

Remove plastic water intake screens from lower unit. Unscrew both nuts on shift rod and slide out of the way. REMOVE the black plastic split washers from the shift shaft WITHOUT LOSING them. The rod will now slide out.
