I recently started working in a harbor doing boat detailing and am wondering if anyone has any tips, techniques, or guides. I do a lot of sanding, buffing, painting, and repairs on mostly fiberglass boats. Anything helps.

Thanks

Welcome to Iboats max.

Yea..good tips would be ..

1. A good variable speed rotary buffer with trigger speed.
2. Good compound/polish ( no petrol ).
3. Dont wrap your buffer cord around your hand.
4. Watch your edges and little plastic wash-down hatches on the trans.
5. Dont hire some kid to do the job that you could be responsible for.
6. Get $ up front for the pad and compound Before you buff it out ;) ..

YD.

PS. Good luck on your venture.

I don't mean to be a smart *** but shouldn't you already know the how to's about this stuff if your working on other peoples investment? Or is this kind of like an apprenticeship?

Practice, practice, practice (preferably on something you own).

Also, there are many many many threads on detailing. I would spend a day reading them.
