questions on a evinrude outboard motor i was given

Hi there everyone

I was recently given a older looking evinrude boat motor 3.5 HP that runs fine but i can not seem to find anything about it on line i was hoping someone would know something about it.

Year?
some questions i got on the throttle reduarding what the shift spot on the throttle is for?

Look up the serial number and you may find out it is not that old but it has a home brew cover.

Once you establish the year I would suggest you order a manual.

I will move this to the correct forum section.

BTW that shift spot is where you would be idling low enough to safely shift

the serial number is 5302c358366

also when i put the throttle into the shift postion the engine stalls

looks like a 1963 5.5 hp, with the snazzy home built cowl option!!

It stalls because it needs a tune up and probable carb cleaning, points plug etc.......... it's almost 50 years old
