I own a 1994 Stingray 586ZP (19 Foot) which I bought new in 1994. I am on vacation at the beach and put the boat in the water (ICW), and noticed that the bilge pump came on after about 5 minutes... I pulled the boat out took it to a repair shop thinking it was the Bellows seal. They called today and said the transom is rotten. I know nothing about how to repair this, or if it is even worth repairing. The boat only has 153 hours on it and is in good shape.

Is this something I could repair myself or should I get a professional to handle it. OR Should I just try to sell it as is and get what I can for it? It's just about dark here tonight, but I will try to post pictures of the boat tomorrow.

Thanks for any help and/or advice.

Re: Rotten Transom

if you sell the boat to someone else.....you are selling a life risk....it should be sold as a project boat and not as a working boat.

as far as repairing it your self.......yeppers....you can.

these pages are full of guys in that exact same position....

just look on the main page here in the dry dock.....several transom jobs happening right now.
