I have a 1994 115 evinrude. At about 3200 rpm a constant alarm sounds. From what i read it sounds like over heat. Hav repair shop install new water pump and still no change. Everything seems to run fine even when alarm sounds but don't want to hurt engine. If I thrittle back just below 3200 it goes away, but anything over that it sounds. It happens at any time while running from right out off the dock to after i've been on the water for a while. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Could be your vacuum alarm for the fuel system. Disconnect the alarm sensors at the engine, run it. Does it stop? Then you need to check the sensors and replace them if necessary. If this has no effect and it still goes off, check to see if engine has a vacuum sensor. If it does, check the vacuum on the fuel input side of the fuel system. You should have no more than 4 in hg.

There is no vacuum sensor on this mtr.

Just because you put a new impeller in the lower unit does not mean the engine won't overheat. There are a couple of other things to check for regarding overheat possibilities: 1. That engine has two thermostats and two pressure relief valves in the thermostat housing. One for each head. If any of them malfunction (stick closed) cooling water won't be able to circulate through that head(s) and the powerhead will overheat. 2. If you find nothing unusual in that housing, it could be a misplaced or blocked water diverter by each cylinder water jacket. 3. You could have debris inside the cyl head cover which is restricting flow.

Thank you for the ideas. I'll start looking in that direction. I have a couple weeks before I realy need to use it so no time like the present.

Took it out yesterday. Used a laser temp thermometer on it. All cyl seem to be between 140 and 150 when alarm is going off. Also unhooked both sensor and still goes off at those rpm. Any other thoughts? Thanks

Could be a bad horn or high voltage in the battery charging system.
