The more and more I am on these boards (i am a I/O guy) I keep hearing the same line over and over. When the coast guard inspects this or that you will be getting a big fine or jail... I was just reading another post where the poster was going to rebuild his boat and beef up his H.P. from 120 to 175. The first response was" you better check with C.G. regs". Give me a break. I believe you should follow the law but you have to draw the line somewhere. Every time you do a upgrade to your car you don't take it the state
police to have it inspected, do you? I have had a couple spot checks and they have never looked at things people talk about being fined for.
I have also noticed that speed boaters (not PWC's ,what some call water flees)don't seem to get whole lot of respect on the boards. I have spent the last two years rebuilding a classic 1972 19' John Allmand/Super Nova in my back yard. And I am pretty proud of it. Most people at the ramp will come over to look. Must have done something right. Its loud when I nail it and does 67 MPH and I fish! So you wont see me burning through your fishing hole. Still there is people that would rather you never set your boat in the water.
I guess the question is..... Who is on this board (how old) and what do you drive (size and speed)?
It tells a lot.
P.S. Don't be afraid speed boaters to speak up! I am one of you and I am not going anywhere.
