Hello all. I am a proud new co-owner of a 24' tri-toon with a 2009 Mercury Optimax ProXS 250. The engine runs great 98% of the time. But we are having an issue that has us concerned.
We usually run at an eco-cruise of 3000 rpm and, every once in a while, the rpms suddenly and mysteriously drop about 200 rpm. After 20-30 seconds, the rpms come back up to 3000. Why would the engine do this??
We just changes the spark plugs and wires, but the problem still happens. The old plug on cylinder #1 seemed to be more oily than the rest. Not sure why that would be.
