I am having a problem with my motor stalling out at full throttle. The boat starts great and runs for a few minutes at full throttle then it just stalls. Pulling back on the throttle allows it to idle fine and then I can't get it back up to full throttle again. I have checked and replaced the VRO pump and puls limiter, the fuel filter, the anti siphon valve, and the bulb. It seemed like it was starving for gas. I havent checked the fuel pick up as I am not sure how. Do I have to pull the sending unit from the top of the built in tank? Plugs look fine but it has the original wires. Could wires cause this type of problem. Any other thoughts. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Joel

The fuel pickup is in the tank where your fuel line for the tank hooks up to the tank fitting. No, you don't pull the fuel gauge sending unit.

A little more info. I pulled the air cover and found a fair amount of oil sitting inside. Maybe a table spoon or so. Could the carbs need a rebuild. Maybe to much gas getting in and it can't and flooding out at full throttle. I did mix 50:1 in the tank to be sure it was getting oil after vro pump replacement.

I did mix 50:1 in the tank to be sure it was getting oil after vro pump replacement so it is probably getting a much higher fuel to oil mix ration than 50:1 but it only smoked on start up and then it ran great for 4-5 minutes on full throttle before it started acting up

Have you pulled the fuel pickup out of the tank yet and checked the screen on it? It should just unscrew from the tank.

Not yet. I will this week and report back if that is the problem. Why will it run cold for a few minutes and then cut off. If it was a fuel restriction I would think it would not have planed out to begin with. I am at a loss...

Thanks for the replies boobie.

OK so the fuel pick up is clear. I took a carb apart and found the needle is sticking which could explain alot. I have ordered 4 carb kits and will be rebuilding the carbs. The question I have now is what is the starting point for the high speed jet on this carb? Is it 1 1/2 turns out? I would like to complete the rebuilds this weekend and have found alot of useful information on how to clean but want to make sure I set the jets correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Model number is VE120TLEND.

Nevermind! I bought a manual and found out that it is a fixed high speed orfice so there are no adjustments at all on these carbs.
