Hello, sorry for my first post be to a help question..Ive always been reader, never posted. My question is..I recently bought a 94 Bass Tracker pro 17 with a Mariner Tracker 40 motor, the motor has manual assist tilt on it, and Im wanting to install a power unit. Someone on my local CL has a Force unit, It is a US Marine unit, and I was wondering if this would fit on my motor..He also just has a power tilt unit from a force 50. Would I be better off just buying the tilt unit if they fit? Any help is appreciated since I need to get to this guy fast if it will fit. Thank you.

Re: Need tilt and trim help

You probably need more info on the used parts, the year & model of the 1st Mariner unit you mentioned.... the year &/or serial # of your 40 Mariner, and the year of the force 50 power tilt you mentioned.

Not enough info to answer your questions, even w/ more info I probably wouldn't be able to help guide you, not familiar at all w/ force OB. I might get lucky for a Merc motor (some force are mostly Mercs) but probably not unless yours matches my 1971 650 Merc...

Most of us actively on the forums this 'official' kick off to the summer boating season, are like you, looking for help. Those that can provide the most or best help are probably out enjoying the water. Esp on Sat/Sun of a long weekend.

See if you can find some info @ what the guys has & post it w/ the year & serial of your motor. MarineEngines has a pretty good library of parts manuals you can scan thru & maybe get lucky & answer your own question.

Re: Need tilt and trim help

Your existing manual tilt assist can be converted to power trim by replacing the lift & lock hydraulics with a full trim pump & 12V motor. If you examine your system, you will see that it is mounted to your engine by the ram housing and the pump portion is not attached to anything except the ram. So if you replace the manual lock with a powered pump then there are no mounting issues. It costs anywhere from $350 to $500 depending whether the hydraulic pump/motor is new or rebuilt. Conversion kits often appear on eBay.

Your engine uses a 9/16" single ram trim system with a side mount tri-lobe pin. I don't know of any Force engine ever made that used that trim system. In the late 90's Mercury, mariner, and Force used the same trim but it is a different system that won't fit your engine.

Re: Need tilt and trim help

Thanks..the guys craigslist is vague..just says will fit late 80's-90's force motor..figure it would just be easier if I order the CMC kit..just tryin to save a few bucks. The tilt and trim woulkod be worth as much as the motor lol.
