Evinrude XP150 trims up then drops when I throttle it up???

Just bought this Stratos 179V with the Evinrude XP150 for a project. Only problem i can't figure out is the motor trims fine out of the water and idling in the water. As soon as you hit the hot foot, motor just drops. No leaks on the trims unit I can see. Unit has fluid. Any Ideas?

A year on that motor would help us. Does it have the three trim cylinder PTT configuration? if so, it will only hold trim if the motor rests on all therr trim cylinders. After the motor comes off the two trim rods, you are tilting it up and it is not designed to hold any power over idle speed.

the year is 1988. It has the PTT configuration . It will not plane off. What am I doing wrong. This not my first boat but it is my first bass boat.

As long as the trim rods hold the motor trim under full power the PTT unit is working fine. Do you have another problem?

If you are running the engine when it is on the tilt ram, and give the engine full power, it will drop down till it rests on the twin trim rams. The tilt ram is not made for full power running. Only the dual trim rams will support the engine when under power.
