Hello all,

I have a 1967 IMP Inca that I'm not sure of the motor but believe it is an OMC/1967/305HP and would like to be sure. The serial number on the block (I believe) is 3919808GMS. Can someone help me match this? Thanks

3919808 is the part number of the intake manifold OMC used on many Chevrolet V8's. Block casting numbers are behind the starboard cylinder head on the top of the flywheel housing part of the block. The 305 cubic inch engine was introduced around 1978, but you could have a Chevrolet 283 which was the only Chevrolet V8 used by OMC in 1967 (rated at 185HP), or another small block V8 Chevy motor -307, 327 etc.. block casting # may tell you- however, if the engine has been rebuilt in the the last 45 years anytime, it can be built into about a dozen displacement configurations by the assembler.

Regardless, it's mostly moot anyways..... the external service parts and procedures for any marine chevrolet V8 from a 283 to a 350 are basically the same.

I owned a Chevelle for 20 years and always thought the engine was a 350 (based on block #)
Found out it was a 327 when I went to rebuild it as it had a 327 crankshaft in it.

Most all parts are interchangable with the SB Chevy's, I once had a 283 that I went to rebuild and found 2 327 rods in it.

I don't know if this is the serial number for the motor but here is what I have found. The boat was sold to me as a 1967 IMP Inca with the motor being a 1968 OMC but I don't think that is the correct date. It is a V-8.

Re: Can someone help to identify my motor?

3970010 is one of the most common small block chevy castings and a very popular block. It is usually a 350, but that was the block in my Chevelle, and as I discovered, an engine builder can assemble that block with a variety of pitons, crankshafts, etc to make many displacements. (my 3970010 motor was a 327 4 bolt main)
3970010 can be a 2 bolt main or 4 bolt main block and was produced from 1969 to 1980.

It isn't the original engine.
If it is a 350 with a 4bbl carb and marine cam and ignition, it would be rated at 260HP.
