1995 200 hp Johnson Ocean Runner will start every time but dies after 10 seconds.

I just purchased this boat three weeks ago and have yet to put it in the water. It was firing up everytime then dying after roughly ten seconds. Then the power pack went out and it had no fire what so ever. I replaced the power pack yesterday and it fired right up but died like clockwork after ten seconds. My buddies and I are a little puzzled. Any ideas?

fuel pump?? carbs need cleaning?? what is compression?? follow instructions and links in my sig below

We did a compression check and got 90 or better on all cylinders. Mission for the day is fuel pump rebuild and carburetor cleaning. I will post the verdict when these tasks are complete. Thanks for the input.

If you have no spark after 10 seconds, it sounds like a stator issue. Need to verify the ign kill circuit is working properly, and the ign switch is working properly.
