I have a Mercury 2006 8 HP four hourse kicker that has begun making a knocking/rattling noise. It alomst seems like something has worn away near the shaft and there is now a metal on metal sound. If I keep the engine at lower idle in gear I can barely hear it but as I increase the metal on metal knocking sound begins. Motor seems to be running smooth. I'm at a loss...any help or input is greatly appreciated. And this is my first post, so I'm glad to be part of the forum.
