I am thinking of adding a set of guide ons to my late 80's tandem roller trailer & 21 ft IO.

If I get the tall pvc pipe type I am thinking I may will have trouble walking it on with ropes from the dock but that will allow me to drive on. The shorter side bunk styles will allow both roping and driving but not buffing.

I do have a welder & would consider making my own but not sure if their is any savings in doing that. The frame is 3 in. x 5 in.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!

I put a set of 2 foot carpeted guide-ons for my boat. I adjusted them so there was an inch of distance beween boat and both sides. Retrieving is easy and I'm always centered.

Tall guides will not interfere with hand loading.
A simple flip of the wrist and the rope is over the post.

I would stay away from the all pvc guides.
They just are not stout enough.
See if you can still find the metal ones, with the pvc over the top.

It depends where you launch most, to me. Our ramp has floating docks and even the low ones get in the way.
