We had a dead spot on our trim pump so it was replaced. Immediately followingte trim pump sounded funny; like water was in it. The motor sounded like a metal piece was in it when running at low speed. The motel then quit and it looks like a pulley and belt broke. Does anyone ave any thoughts on why all of a sudden the motr issue arose after the trim pump was replaced? We were told it was just a coincidence. Thanks

Re: Optimax250 trim issue

trim is a separate system from everything else. It can short out and blows fuses or kill batteries. If you tow without a transom saver it can break on pothole and allow motor to drag pavement. If you tilt too high it can accidentally crush something laying near engine. The electric motor generates additional galvanic corrosion and if you do not take care of your anodes then trim can cause seized bolts. That's about it. Not really possible for trim to cause pulley or belt troubles.
