1989 Bayliner Capri Electrical problem

I have an 16 foot 89 Bayliner Capri that I am trying to change the ignition swith on. Problem is that I think the one was the wrong one. It was a 6 tab 3 pos push to choke and when i got the new one from the dealership it was a 7 tab. I have seven wires onder the dash 1 Black, 1 Red, 1 Yellow, 1 Green, 1 Purple\Violet and 2 white. I am guesing that it was rewired at some point.now I am trying to figure out what it what. Can anyone help on this one?

Don't uyou think it would help if we knew if this was an I/O or outboard and depending on which it is, what engine or outdrive you have? Look at the back of the new switch and then post the letters next to each terminal. You should have the following for certain:

B = battery (typically the large red wire)
S = Solenoid (wire going to the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid
C = Choke/primer (this wire goes to the choke solenoid or primer solenoid depending on what the engine has)
A = Accessory (this wire feeds the instruments when the key is on)
M = Magneto (this wire either goes to ground or it goes to the ignitiion module
M = Magneto (yes -- there are two). This one goes to where the other "M" wire doesn't

That accounts for six of the wires. What is the 7th terminal identified as? Wire colors are somewhat engine specific. We don't know what you have.
