Had this motor to 3 different marinas, they say it's okay. I put it in the lake, it runs perfect for about 5-10 minutes, then runs real rough, if it stays running. I started looking into things myself instead of throwing away my money.
This is a 4 cyl. 2 stroke, oil injection, its only firing on the bottom 2 cyl. I switched the ignition coils, didn't make any
difference, top 2 still have no spark. I took readings on the trigger, if I did it right they seemed okay. This is all new to me including the 300 page manual I paid for. Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely a switchbox and you only have one... could also be a trigger as it has two magnets and each one controls two cylinders...only way to know is to down load CDI testing procedures and do the tests.. If you need a switch box save your money and buy a Mallory made in Germany at half the price Merc wants...this is the most common cause with the trigger not going out often but you never know without testing.. I always keep a 4 cylinder and 3 cylinder switch box new on hand even though I will test before swapping out....

I tested the trigger, got 820 on one and 838 on the other it's in the range I think.
Tested the stater, I have black, 16 amp, I think ??? according to the readings, except on yellow to yellow
I should get .10-.50, I get nothing????
Going to try and test this switch box
