So I road tripped it Saturday and came home with this!!!:)

Much better hull for me, has the updated support along the chine inside which should eliminate the issues I had with the 69. This will be a franken boat with parts from the 69 used, the 69 cap is in better shape so that will be mated with this hull hopefully. Last night we started demo!

Cool, got after the replacement eh;)

All the stuff you are shooting there, very familiar to me, though yours is (was) in much better condition:)

I think you will find those fat stringers left behind by the blue bomber will come in really handy no matter what you do to power this boat.

Another Islander project, excellent!:D

Ya I think those Stringer stringers will work nice to tie that transom to the hull with some brackets. Should be mint!

Ah sheesh, you had more to post. This is going to be very embarrassing for me when you float this boat and I'm still rigging my Merc. Rats:(

Ah well, I'll enjoy watching you smoke me:)

I almost pulled the trigger on a Merc 250 EFI when I was chewing on the idea of a bracket:eek: That would have been sweet:D

(I might have been done by now too:facepalm:)

Wow, that was quick, we are not used to Islander owners that make flash decisions like that, LOL :D
Looks like your starting out with a real good hull this time.

Goodness, MD. You're in Warp Drive! The '76 looks better than the '69. You made the right decision on the old one, she was beyond hope. Now this one, WOO-HOO.

Nice. No foam and templates to use. Big time savings. At this rate you'll be done in about a week :)

UUHHOooooo, my face is all red and splotchy from that backhand that came from waaaayyyy north of the border!!!

Man, I think we need higher fences or something:rolleyes:

(Nice one Glen:D)

In my defense, my boys can't yet grab hold of the other end of anything let alone a cabin top to get it out of the way. Matter of fact, I'm still trying to help them figure out that the fly of their pants goes in the front, not the back:rolleyes:

Mag, those stringers will be sweet to tie in a couple of knee braces n such. They will make your life so much easier vs. having to fab up a bunch of structure. That is surely the one positive thing these stringer drives leave behind:D

Ya I am stoked about that, the one positive of the stringer drive!!!

Well we are minus one transom, holy swiss cheese batman, FLAT HEAD SCREWS SUCK!!!!!!!!! must of been a million of them!
100_0760.jpg

Not as bad as the last transom wood, some sort of a pattern
100_0763.jpg

And the expected corrosion
100_0769.jpg

Time to do some cleaning and see what I end up with, gonna have to weld a million holes shut and seal the stringer hole.
Glad I have some donor tin from ol 69!

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

Well went nuts and decided to play carpenter, Now remember that access to tools does not make a good carpenter!! We have a full service cabinet shop at work, makes it nice to play boat builder.
100_0803.jpg

We stock, sanded one side A/C exterior grade in 1/2 and 3/4"
100_0804.jpg

So off to the races, started with the transom, Screwed two pieces of 3/4" together to hold them for cutting
100_0808.jpg

old transom for a pattern
100_0811.jpg

Missing the bottom so used the skin from ol 69 to help figure out the pattern
100_0812.jpg

Layout ready to cut

Tools of the trade
100_0816.jpg

And basic cut out
100_0817.jpg

13 degree transom angle, trim the top for the deck skin to lay flat
100_0810.jpg

100_0818.jpg

100_0819.jpg

Off to the pile it goes, will sand, and seperate the two pieces and epoxy together at a later date!!!!!
Progress:)
