Casting deck replacement

I just purchased bass boat and noticed the wood under the casting deck is pretty well rotten. What am I suppose to do about cutting top layer, I guess the fiberglass sheet that covers the wood. Should I just cut about an inch or so away from edge, save the sheet, replace the wood, and fiberglass piece back in? The rest of the deck feels solid, except for casting deck. I may be going about this completely wrong. I know there's probably a discussion on here somewhere but I don't know where. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to iBoats!

Best way to load pics here on the Forum is to get a FREE Photobucket account. Upload your pics there, then over the pic and a pop up window will appear. The last link in the window is the IMG Code window. Click on it and it will say "Copied". Now return to iBoats and hold down the Ctrl Key and click the "V" key to paste the pic into your iBoats post. That's it!
