Motor problem

I was out on the river all day yesterday and my motor ran like a champ. I put in this morning and was unable to get it into forward gear, however neutral and reverse worked fine. Any suggestions on whats wrong and how to fix it? The year is 1966 and its a 33 horse Johnson electric start.

Have you checked the drive pin in the prop?

I have a 1969 65 horse and this happened once to me. I had to rebuild my lower end. Don't remember if reverse worked. Broken prop pins usually result in no thrust in either direction. Now I have seen a spun hub do this once but only once. In forward it would just free wheel the prop but for some reason in reverse it would lock and pull.
