Would it help any to place a riser plate between my 4160 holly and the intake manifold. Someone told me it would help fuel atomization and fuel economy/power. Has stock water cooled manifold.

Re: 302 w/ 4 barrel

it might, depends on the setup. if the intake is low profile and there's not much height distance from where the carb mounts to it to where the intake runners make a right angle to go to the cylinders, it can help smooth airflow below the carb to give better carburetion, which can be seen as better idle quality and better acceleration.<br />It can also help if it prevents heat soak by being non metallic and cooling the intake some. But in either case don't expect to go from a wot of 4500 rpms to 5000 rpms or see much of a increase in fuel economy. Fuel economy on a boat is an oxymoron, unless its a sail boat. For $10-20 for the part, it's worth trying no big deal. Hardest part will probably be getting the linkage and fuel line to still connect, hopefully there is clearance under the engine cowling
