In process of doing bellows replacement and reseal on 275A drive. Per Don S. instructions removed two cap head bolts and can see there are two additional fasteners or pins on either side. They appear to be star drives but hard to see. Dont want to break or damage so can I get input on if they are threaded fasteners or how to remove so I can move helmut aside?

Thanks
Paul

Re: helmut removal

I may be wrong...

But... I believe once you pull the two cap screws (or one in my case) from the center of the helmut where it meets the drive, you simply tilt the helmut up and out of your way (push it back to wards the transom shield). No need to unbolt the helmut from its pivots.

He may have the same problem i did, the center pin may be frozen/seized in place. Use 2 long 1/4" bolts and turn them 1/2 each at a time till the center pin pops out.

Thanks for advice using jack screws. Dont think ring would have come off without them, heat and soaking in lube. Amazing the strength of line corrosion even in such a small part.

Re: helmut removal

A couple of good thumps with a rubber mallet on the helmut helps too.
