I am in the middle of my tear out and I need to remove the padding on the sides however, I can not remove the throttle/shifter with out breaking something. I have removed the some screws and the shifter is loose from the panel however I can't remove it. How do I remove the shifter?

Re: Throttle/Shifter removal

If you have a pic post it, but sounds like you need to disconnect the cables from the throttle control. If you are keeping the cables, label them, if not just unscrew and toss aside. The padded panels have screws attached under the padding. Not sure if you are planning on keeping the padding, but on mine I didn't and just ripped them off, they were pretty much waterlogged and rotted. Hope this helps..

This is what my old throttle looked like against the padded side...oldthrottle.jpg

I took off the padded siding to gain access to the cables attached to the throttle.. either that or you can disconnect from the engine and pull the cables through the hole...
