95 mercruiser to 86 omc

Good evening
I know OMC and mercruiser use the same GM block. I am wondering though if anyone can tell me what years are compatable. I have a 95 starcraft that had a mercruiser 4.3, i purchased it without an engine, I have all the outer extremintys of the engine, just no long block. My question is would my parts from a 95 mercruiser 4.3 fit on an 86 OMC. Both GM blocks but are they cast different, with different mounts and such since the year models are so far apart. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... 'ell No,... The Merc dressin's are Way different than OMC dressin's...

It's the basic Long Block that is common 'tween 'em....

If yer askin' whether you can strip an '86 OMC dressed motor down to it's Long Block, 'n redress it to a Merc,..??....

There'll be Issues, because of the Vintage differences....

I believe you need a '92 to '95 Long block, for a completely plug, 'n play....

I'd shop for a Later motor, to take advantage of the Vortec heads....

No, and why would you? Most people are trying to do the opposite, get AWAY for the OMC.... Go and find a truck with a 4.3 in from the same era and just build up the Mercruiser...
