Re: How big is to big - tubing

I see people tubing behind small cabin boats--25' or so--sure it can be done but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Worse is when they try to use those big boats, or boats like pontoons that are hard to handle, to teach someone to ski or other skill sports. set-go-fall-turn around repeat. Maddening.

Any boat can pull a tube. a more agile boat like a 16-19' is what fits.

So are you looking for record breakers, or recommendations of what works best?

I have a bud with a 2011 37ft SeaRay that pulls his 5year old on a tube. I like pulling tubes with my boat to see how much "air" they get!:D

I can only contribute a 29' boat. I personally would tube behind anything... Other than a sailboat or trawler/tug!

I've tried behind a sailboat. It was a 18' small boat. It was like being on the lazy river.

So it was before 'tubing' even existed, but back in the 1970's my dad went aqua-planning behind our 46' C.C. - That was a mile or so out in the Atlantic off the Jersey shore, so no one was bothered.
