New coupler/flywheel nuts

I am replacing my volvo engine. Last time I purchased new nuts for the coupler, 6 of them because I read somewhere that they should be replaced everytime they are taken off. The cost doesn't bother me ($40 a set). However, I am seeing it is very hard to find them new, therefore I am wondering if this replacement is true/necessary.

Is this correct? Should these be replaced everytime they are removed? I want to do what is correct but not what is unessary.

Thanks.

They should be good for more than one use.

My question is why do you go through so many couplers. Don't you check the alignment yearly, or grease the splines yearly? If that is done those couplers should last forever.

Re: New coupler/flywheel nuts

Actually my coupler is the original. I am replacing my engine and will transfer flywheel/coupler to new engine.

Thanks for the reply.
