Help with controls please

On the old tri-toon I'm working on I have controls for an older mercury O/B. (Tower of Power 150 HP) I am going to replace it with something newer and my question is, do I need to replace my existing controls or were mercury O/B's pretty much all the same when it comes to the controls? (I already figured out if I go to another manufacture everything must be replaced.)

I know that on my boat. I had the old MerControl controls on it, and replaced them with the "commander" style controls. Harness plugged right in. Now, with that said- im still trying to get the motor started after sitting for a long time...

Bubba, The control cables for throttle and shift will work just fine on whatever Merc you install. Thw wiring will need to be adapted.

I replaced my '77 Merc 1500 with a '93 Merc 135HPV6. I needed to create a interconnection diaghram to connect the wires properly. Let me know what motor you are installing and I will try to help.
