Changing motor over from mixed fuel

Does anyone know if it is possible to change a mercury outboard manufactured in the mid 80's from a mixed fuel to what I would assume to be fuel injected? I'm almost certain I am not asking that question properly so basically I just don't want to mix the oil and gas when filling up, but would rather the thing do it on its own. This isn't something I would do on my own, I would most likely take it to a mechanic to make happen if its possible. Unless someone tells me it would not be a total nightmare to do.

Im pretty new to motors of this age, so I'm not 100% on what can and can not happen with them.

Thanks in advance for any advice on the questions at hand.

Re: Changing motor over from mixed fuel

Can you post your serial# located on transom bracket and also engine block,so we know where to start.Generally any motor that has a disabled oil injection system should be left that way.Too risky getting it up and running correctly with a huge price if you get it wrong, resulting in a toasted motor.Stick with mixing....less stress.
