Radio issues

I have a 2010 Larson senza 206.
It has a Jensen MSR2010 head unit in it.
Some times the music will work fine and then other times it will not work at all. It seems to be completely random, but today while on the water it started to cut in and out. Then it would stop working all together unless you turned the radio off and back on. It would then work for about 2 seconds until it sounded like the music just slowly faded out until there was nothing. If you cycled the power it would do the exact same thing.

Now, after the boat has been sitting for a few hours, the radio works completely fine.

Any thoughts on what this might be ?

Welcome to iboats!

Before replacing the unit, make sure it's getting the proper power. Corroded or loose connections will cause all sorts of fun with electronics.

Re: Radio issues

Do you know of drop in replacement ?
That sucks... Boats not even 2 years old

Go with a marine stereo that's sealed and has a conformal coated circuit board. For longevity reasons, I would highly recommend a Clarion M309 for all of the above. When it comes down to it, pretty much all are almost the same as far as doing what they're supposed to do. Durability in a marine environment is the only variable. From what I've seen as a professional marine installer, Clarion's seem to weather the best. http://www.amazon.com/Clarion-M309-...8K1U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336953877&sr=8-1

I have the same Jensen in my 2010 Larson, nothing but buzzing static backround on the radio , not that I use the radio much ( more MP3's or Sirius), but it's annoying and the dealer says nothing wrong. Of course I'm hearing things.... I'm replacing the POS with either a Kenwood or MB Quart.

Re: Radio issues

sounds like the deck is trying to go into a "protection" mode due to a bad speaker(s) and/or bad speaker wiring
