Hello all. New to the forum. I've got a 1989 60hp merc. that is missing out more at low rpm than high. Seems to start fine and get worse when warmed up. Can't hardly get it to idle then. I've already cleaned both carbs (that didnt look bad at all on the inside) with two cans of cleaner and blew out all the ports. Checked float level also. Drained and dried tank refilled with new gas and oil. Fuel pump fills clear new filter quickly and keeps it full while running. Held all the wires while running and they don't seem to be shorting out. new plugs which have spark when just quick turnover against block. I am trying to check the resistance of the coils and stator now but I'm not sure how to do it. Ive got a Fluke 177 and am not sure what ohm setting to use. On the K ohms manual 6 range setting I am getting a .968 reading on the secondary #1 coil .928 on #2 and .908 on #3. Am I even using the right setting on this? It's got a M ohm and K ohm setting and the range on both are manual 6, 60 and 600. Any help appreciated.
