hello fellow boaters. i hav a 70 hp evinrude i think a 1976 model. model# 70el76d> i think im having a cooling problem, i tRADED FOR THE MOTOR LAST YEAR IT HAD BEEN SETTING for a few years. i got it going but it was blowing water out the number 3 spark plug hole when you took the plug out and rand it so i chang the head gasket and all the exhaust port gaskets and water pump. now it feels like it is running warm when run on the muffs. i gutted the t stat an put it back in. still the same, i checked to temp alarm sensor and it works.and the tattle tale pees enough to fill a pool im puzzled. i have a few questiions ,
#1 it has thru prop exhaust should it be discharging water because it isnt.
#2could that sensor be bad.
#3 if the water doesnt come out the prop where does it come out

1) Some water should come out through the prop. Is there any water coming out of the vertical slots just above the cavation plate towards the rear? Can you hold your hand on the cylinder for a 4-5 count?
2) Sensor could be bad. Do you know anyone with a laser temp gun you could borrow to check the actual temp?
3) Running on a hose the water will come out through the prop, the vertical slots above the cavation plate, and a couple of drain holes on the lower unit.
