Engine size for my boat

I purchased a nice little 1964 Sea King 14 ft fiberglass boat without an engine. The previous owner stated that the boat had a 25 hp Johnson on it. There is no coast guard plate on the boat so I have no idea what the max. Capacity engine would be. I was hoping to use my 1968 33 hp Evinrude on this boat. Anyone have an idea on how I can find out or calculate this ?

14 foot closed bow with helm steering, round bottom, 15 inch transom---probably rated for right around 40 HP new. Your 33 will make a fine match for that hull.

In 1962 I had a very similar 13 foot hull and she was powered nicely with a 25 HP Johnson.
