Hey guys I just got started in restoring my first boat. I want to bring back the shine to her but can't afford a paint job right now. Is there a wax, polish, restorer product out there that goes on like waxing a car? If so has anybody used it and how did it turn out. Also I will post pictures later once start my resto on my Babcock... funny name I had never heard of. I have to redo stringers and the floor put my 60 horse evinrude on it and then go to the lake but i have a couple weeks maybe months of work before then. Any tips would be great.

You can do a GREAT paint job for under a $100 bucks. Check the link in my signature below

oh well I did not realize I could get the required products for that little. So it really works on gel-coats too?

How bad is the gelcoat finish now? Generally speaking you can buff the shine back, may have to go with some wet/dry sanding first but you can usually get the shine back rather well.

Like CW says, buffing can bring em back. Lot's of examples here on the forum. 5 of em are listed at the bottom of your thread. Check em out.
