Hi, Iam new to the forum. I recently purchased a 1971 starcraft with a 1971 1350 Mercury outboard. I took it out for the first time today and it ran awesome. I put the throttle down and it had great power no hesitation at all throttled down a little bit and still ran good ran it up again, and it was very responsive. I started to come into the marina at idle speed it died and would not start to save my life. Has anyone else had this problem or might know what it is?

Thanks,
Matt

I had a similar problem, mine wouldn't idle. I used the warm up part of the throttle control to keep it running. I am going to rebuild the carbs before I start chasing it further as I hope a simple rebuild will fix the problem.

Matt, Take a compression and spark test. If you have spark and good compression the motor is worth working on. How are the engine wires.
