Idle control

Have a 1980 Johnson 7.5 outboard 2 cycle. Will someone explain how to use the slow idle control. Once its set for my elivation do I need to change it? Thanks guys for any help.

You want to seat the needle then back out 1.5 turns. Start the motor and slow down to troll all the while start to close the needle in 1/8 turn increments. Once it won't stay running back out the needle 1/4 turn. Within that 1/4 turn u should get the best setting. For better dirbections go to the top secret file and there's a tutorial there.

Are you talking about the idle control on the tiller handle or the low speed setting on the carb?

codykoke is leading in the right direction.
Once you set it for your elevation, there should be no need to reset it.
