2000 ficht 115 missing at low rpm

i have a 200 ficht 115 that misses at low rpm and takes forever to get the boat on plane. once the motor is running above 3500 rpm it takes off and runs fine. repaced both fuel pumps,plugs,fuel filter,ignition switch,and primer bulb. motor seems to run better sometimes but slides back into its cruddy mode when it wants to. please help. compression checked out ok .

you surely know its crucial for the ficht to index the plugs correctly . further these engines are sensitive to have the fully correct plugs . so check both twice.

did you replaced the filter at the boat or the engine ? check both for water in it- water in the engine fuel filter should throw a check eng light.

when all the little things are excluded you may have a faulty EMM.

what oil are you running ?

i replaced the filter at the motor. couldnt see any more filters. fuel pressure is a little over 26 lbs at the test port. and have checked for water. none that i could detect. the plugs are champion xc12pepb indexed perfectly. the oil is quicksilver tcw3. no check engine lights. thanks for your reply

Change oil to min BPR XD-50.
Do an 'ign verifying' and at the same time check the throttle cable installation by using the diag prg.

xc12pepb are correct- when they are indexed good you can exclude plugs. yes, run Xd-50 thru the ficht. i ran at my 150hp ficht also with straight tcw3 oil ( XD-30 ). it worked with it but was not fully happy. after changing to XD50 i was blown away by the difference. after some hours of operation the engine is much smoother and absolutely smoke free , further the exhaust hub is not black anymore but shiny clean. XD50 is specially designed for the direct injection evinrudes and has some carbon inhibitor in it.

fill this oil in and just run some hours and see if it will imrpove the situation.

further carefully check if not a bad fuel filter is somewhere inside the boat. the ficht is like said sensitive to plugs, carbon build up due to not optimum oil and not clinically clean gas.

thank you for your reply.the plugs arent fouling. i will try the xd50 though.i live in the middle of nowhere so there isnt much in the way of marine shops here. ill order it or see if our local auto stores can get it.what brand?

throttle cable installation? hmmm. it also misses and cuts out when the shifter is at full throttle.didnt know that the throttle cable was that crucial.is was suggested that the throttle plates were opening too far at full throttle. thank you for the blog!

i hate to stuck on the ( at least in europe) expensive manufacturer brand but in this case run original evinrude XD-50 oil ( its named so) . there are some other brands special for direct injected engines ( e.g amsoil injector oil, quicksilver HPDI oil) but somehow the fichts seem to run best with the original evinrude oil.

in any case the ficht dislikes normal TCW3 oil. i would not believe it until i tried it on my engine and the difference after some operating hours is really stunning.
